If punishment kink is involved, I prefer it to explicitly be either a roleplay scenario or a pretext to let a character enjoy something they want but wouldn't be able to accept otherwise.
I’m not a huge fan of extensive kink negotiation of the “demonstrating that the characters have a healthy relationship and/or are doing Proper BDSM” variety, but I like kink and relationship negotiation when it feels organic for the scene—particularly when the focus is either on a) the negotiation itself as something fun/sexy/vulnerable/scary/etc. for the characters or b) the ways in which they struggle to communicate effectively, and the consequences of that, whether they overcome the issues or not! Don’t take this as a moratorium on kink negotiation, just a preference against negotiation being included for didactic reasons.

Yeah, I think it's fun! I've had some version of this list going on and off for about ten years of intermittent exchange signups which is probably why it's so extra... It is embarrassing though when I read through it for the first time in a while and I think about whatever I've written in the intervening time... Because I am usually painfully predictable to my own taste.
Also laying it all out like this makes me feel like my taste is somehow way too outré yet also so boring/vanilla??? Like yes I love torture and trauma but most of all I love LOVE (romantic and otherwise)
